First Scanpan, (What's this?) Now that my husband and I love to do so much more cooking at home, we decided to shop around for best tools. We needed a saucepan in the 2-3qt size, so we purchased this one. I read very mixed reviews about the scanpan fry pans, but we thought that a saucepan would be a safe bet. Also, we had some certificates/coupons so we didn't have to pay the full retail price for it.
We like it; although it has a couple of idiosyncracies. First, it stays hot for a long time after removing from the stove...that took some getting used to. Second, the cover has 2 tiny vent holes that cannot be closed...so you are venting; like it or not! That can be a challenge for closed simmering for things like rice or oatmeal.
All-in-all, it would be a good pan for about 1/3 of the retail price.
A great cooking tool, (What's this?) The ScanPan CTX-4 quart saucepan is the best saucepan I have owned. The handles are very comfortable. The non-stick inner surface is environmentally safe and durable. It is great to use. The only problem is cost and if that is a issue try out the Professional line which has the same handle and non-stick surface.
